September 8, 2013 is World Physical Therapy Day

World Physical Therapy Day, promoted by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy, is celebrated on Sunday, September 8, 2013. This day is an opportunity for physical therapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution the profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.

Jackson Therapy Partners Supports A Gift for Teaching



August is Back to School Month! Sister companies, Jackson Therapy Partners and Jackson Nurse Professionals will be collecting donations for A Gift for Teaching, a Central Florida organization that improves public education by collecting surplus school supplies and distributing them to students in need through a FREE store for teachers.    

The companies have a goal to collect 100 items by August 30 to contribute to the organization's 15th Birthday Celebration Campaign --- celebrating 15 years of being Central Florida's primary provider of supplies to underprivileged students

About A Gift for Teaching
A Gift For Teaching works to ensure that underprivileged students in the Central Florida community have the basic tools necessary to succeed in school and life by collecting and distributing the community's surplus supplies and merchandise for students in need through the free store for teachers. A Gift For Teaching is an independently operated 501(c)3 non-profit organization solely funded through the community, including corporations, foundations and individuals. Hospital Charitable Service Awards



Sponsored by our parent company, Jackson Healthcare, The Hospital Charitable Service Awards honor hospitals whose charitable commitment to their community-whether locally, regionally, nationally or globally-has led to innovative, sustainable and collaborative efforts to improve community health and increase access to healthcare education and services. The deadline to submit your application(s) is Friday, August 23, 2013.

Who is eligible?
All hospital-funded community programs are eligible to participate regardless of the size, tax or ownership model.

What do winning programs receive?
  • Winning programs share in $100,000 prize pool
  • Receive national and local publicity  
  • The opportunity to share their success stories 
When Will Award Winners Be Announced?
Finalists will be announced in early October 2013. Award-winners will be announced at a special banquet on February 4, 2014.

June is National Aphasia Awareness Month

National Aphasia Awareness Month is celebrated each June to bring national awareness and education to this condition that affects approximately one million Americans.

Aphasia is an impairment of language, affecting the production or comprehension of speech and the ability to read or write. Aphasia is always due to injury to the brain, most commonly from a stroke, but may also arise from head trauma, brain tumors, or infections.

Parent Company, Jackson Healthcare, Ranks 4th in Atlanta’s Healthiest Employer Ranking




Parent Company, Jackson Healthcare, recently ranked 4th in Atlanta's Healthiest Employer Awards, large employer category for 2013. Presented by the Atlanta Business Chronicle in partnership with Healthiest Employers, LLC, the Awards recognize those companies that lead in associate wellness efforts. As part of its wellness initiatives, Jackson Healthcare rewards associates who participate in biannual biometric screenings and actively follow healthy living recommendations. 

The Healthiest Employer Ranking is based on wellness efforts self-reported by participating companies through an online survey and analyzed by Healthiest Employers, LLC, a data aggregation and analytics organization whose mission it is to improve wellness programming outcomes. Participating companies were asked questions regarding leadership's commitment to wellness initiatives, strategic wellness programming and reporting and analysis of wellness efforts.

Light It Up Blue



World Autism Awareness Day is Tuesday, April 2 and Autism Speaks is holding Light It Up Blue to help bring awareness to this condition.

Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative to help raise Autism Awareness; and in honor, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part in the Light It Up Blue initiative.

Food for Thought


 
 
During March, Jackson Therapy Partners will be collecting non-perishable food items for one of the Corporate 5K beneficiaries --- The Christian Service Center, a private, non-profit service agency which, since 1971, has provided our community with programs designed to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This year, we're hoping to match last year's collection of 1,200 items. Our donations will be due by the night of the 5k ---Thursday, April 18.

About Corporate 5K
The IOA Corporate 5k presented by News 13 and Bright House Sports Network is a 3.1-mile run/walk event held exclusively for Florida's corporate community. Businesses and non-profit organizations form teams and participate in the Corporate 5k for camaraderie, friendly competition and celebrating with co-workers. Consisting of over 700 local companies made up of 14,000 participants that include employees, CEOs, vendors, friends and families, the community joins together in downtown Orlando for fun, networking, and a celebration of healthy living.

Jackson Therapy Participates in Princess Project


Jackson Therapy Partners will be collecting gently used formal dresses/gowns for XL 106.7's Operation Princess Project for drop-off on March 2, 2013.

For the last six years, local radio station XL 106.7, has helped high school girls in Central Florida have their dream prom. Operation Princess Project asked listeners to donate their new or gently used formal dresses and XL 106.7 gives them to girls who might otherwise not be able to go to their prom. Last year, the station collected over 3,000 dresses and they are hoping to be even more successful this year.

Hospital Charitable Services Awards

Did you know...parent company, Jackson Healthcare, sponsors a program known as Hospital Charitable Services to honor hospitals whose charitable commitment promotes health and wellness in the local and global hospital communities. 

191 hospital community and charitable service programs were nominated for the 2012 Hospital Charitable Service Awards. These programs represent 166 hospitals and health systems across 38 states and the District of Columbia

The programs were nominated by their hospitals as examples of impact and quality. Award winners -- referred to as Programs of Excellence -- will be announced next week at the National Hospital Charitable Service Awards Conference and Banquet in Atlanta on February 13, 2013. These programs will share in a $100,000 prize.
